India crude throughput falls marginally in April vs March: govt data

21 May 2021

London, (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) – Crude throughput in India fell only marginally in April compared to a month earlier, with figures from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell showing that the country processed 19.9 million mt.

The figure, equivalent to 4.84 million bpd, compares with 20.985 million mt in March, equivalent to 4.94 million bpd, and 14.7 million mt in April 2020, equal to 3.59 million bpd.

The figure is unlikely to give real insight in the demand destruction that is likely to have occurred as a result of the second wave of the brutal pandemic in India, as refinery runs are expected to have fallen by 15% in May.
