Quantum launches new suite of biofuel feedstock and HVO assessments
Quantum Commodity Intelligence - In response to market demand, Quantum has launched twelve new biofuel feedstock price assessments as well as six hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) price assessments.
The feedstock price indices include both waste materials such as used cooking oil (UCO) and palm oil mill effluent (POME) as well as vegetable oils which are used to produce both first- and second-generation biofuels.
The price indices for HVO, which is also known as renewable diesel, are published both as a premium over the low sulfur gasoil futures on a volumetric basis ($/cu m), and on a flat price basis in dollars per metric tonne ($/mt).
HVO is less dense than low-sulfur gasoil and the premium to underlying gasoil futures is adjusted accordingly, assuming an HVO density of 0.78 kg/l and a gasoil density of 0.845 kg/l.
Quantum has been monitoring the price movement of these products for several weeks, collecting trade data, bids and offers in the OTC market.
