Weekly EIA oil data delayed again due to 'hardware failures'
Quantum Commodity Intelligence – Weekly US oil demand, production and trade data produced by the Energy Information Administration has been delayed again due to hardware failures with one of its servers, the agency said in a statement.
Last week's issue – representing data up to June 17 – was already delayed from its scheduled Thursday release due to what it called then "system issues".
The EIA elaborated on its ongoing technical issues on Monday saying: "on Friday, June 17, we discovered a voltage irregularity, which caused hardware failures on two of our main processing servers."
The agency has already said last week that the issues were not cyber-related that the "current delays are not the result of a hack."
The EIA has replaced the affected hardware and is in the process of transferring backup data to the new systems, with no data to be published on Monday.
The delay includes its Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update, which comes at a critical time for the Biden Administration as it called on Congress to cut federal gasoline tax over the next three months to ease the pain at the pump.
"We will share a schedule for our product releases as soon as possible," the EIA said.
