London (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) - Gasoline stocks in the US rose a hefty 5.6 million barrels last week, according to reports citing American Petroleum Institute data.
The rise compares with expectations of a 400,000 barrel draw in a poll of analysts by Reuters.
The huge stock build over the week to May 7 occurred before hackers launched a cyber-attack on the Colonial pipeline.
US crude stocks drew 2.5 million barrels over the same week, slightly more than forecasts of a 2.3-million barrel fall.
Distillate stocks also fell 872,000 barrels, slightly less than expectations of a 1-million barrel fall.
