SPAIN DATA: May's crude imports at 7-month high, still 17% below 2019

London, (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) - Spain's crude oil imports rose 11.4% on the month to 4.783 million mt in May, the highest monthly total since October last year but still 17.2% down from the pre-pandemic May 2019 level, government data showed Thursday.

The daily rate of imports was 7.8% higher from April, at around 1.13 million barrels per day (bpd) according to the provisional data from Strategic Corporation of Petroleum Products.

Imports from OPEC members accounted for 51.4% of all imports, mostly on increases from Libya (+71% to 0.2 million bpd), Iraq (+35% to 79,000 bpd) and Nigeria (+47% to 0.18 million bpd).

Brazil sent nearly double in May compared to April at 65,000 bpd, while the US sent 50% more at 68,000 bpd.
