SALES DATA: Fujairah bunker sales fall for second successive month

12 Jul 2021

Quantum Commodity Intelligence - Bunker fuel sales at the hub of Fujairah fell for the second successive month in June, albeit marginally, led by lower sales in low sulfur fuel oil 380cst, according to data from the Fujairah oil industry zone.

Total sales reached 671,857 cu metres, down 0.2% on the previous month and 1.1% on April's levels.

Low sulfur (0.5%) fuel oil sales totalled 511,913 cu metres, down 19,000 cu metres on the month, while 3.5%-sulfur marine fuel oil sales rose 11% to 122,422 mt.

Those two grades account for more than 90% of the bunker sales at the port.

While the figures are for June, early indications suggest demand is picking up for shipping fuel so far this month, with residual fuel stocks falling to a near four-month low last week.

Fujairah is the world's third-largest bunkering hub after Singapore and Rotterdam.

Sales in Fujairah have been depressed so far this year due to movement restrictions in south Asia that has had a knock on effect for bunkering in the region.
