Permian basin driving recovery in US oil output
London (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) - Shale production will continue to recover in the Permian basin in June for the fourth month in a row, but there are small losses in four of the other six major oil producing regions in the US, according to the Energy Information Administration.
Output from the Permian basin will rise from 54,000 bpd in June from May after rising 47,000 bpd in May from April, the Drilling Report shows.
After hitting a low of 3.686 million bpd in February, Permian production will hit 4.589 million bpd in June, a gain of 903,000 bpd.
But Eagle Ford, Bakken, Anadarko, and Niobrara regions will see slight falls in production in June from May.
Haynesville production will be flat month-on-month, and Appalachia production will nudge up 1,000 bpd.
After slipping 3,000 bpd in May from April, US oil production from these seven basins will gain just 26,000 b/d month-on-month in June to 7.707 million bpd.
US gas production falls in June from May by 53,000 cubic feet per day to 83,571, according to the May edition of the Drilling Report.
