London (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) – A collision between an oil tanker and a bulk carrier has led to an oil spill off China's east coast port city of Qingdao, according to news reports Tuesday.

The 20-year old A Symphony tanker was reportedly anchored when it was hit by the bulk carrier, Sea Justice. 'The force of the impact on the forward port side caused a breach in way of No. 2 Port ballast tank, with a quantity of oil lost into the ocean,' Goodwood Ship Management, which operates the Suezmax tanker, told Reuters.

'All of the crew have since been accounted for, and there are no injuries,' the firm said in an email. It said the collision occurred at around 0850 local time (2050 Monday ET).

The A Symphony is a crude oil carrier with 150,500 deadweight ton capacity, sailing under a Liberian flag. The A Sympony was reported at 272-meters (892-foot) and the Sea Justice 189-meters (620-foot).

Shipping traffic has been ordered to at least 10 nautical miles (11.5 miles) away from the site of the collision, said the Associated Press.

No further detail was available on the extent of the oil spill.
