Neste to supply SAF to Finnair, reviewing new plant
London (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) - Finnish refiner Neste has struck a deal to supply 300 mt of sustainable aviation fuel to Finnair at Helsinki airport in Finland, the company announced today.
The airline will cut its annual greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 900 tons of carbon.
Neste is currently reviewing whether to choose Porvoo in Finland or Rotterdam in Holland to build a new plant to boost its renewable fuel production, although last month announced Rotterdam was a far more cost effective option.
The Finnish refiner currently produces 100,000 mt of sustainable aviation fuel a year, but that volume will increase to 1.5 million tons globally after the expansion of its Singapore refinery.
Finnair has a target to become carbon neutral by 2025 and halve its net carbon emissions by 2025.
