London - (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) – A "limited fire" broke out on Monday at the Kuwait Oil Co's Greater Burgan field, injuring two workers but with no impact on production, the state news agency KUNA reported, citing a company statement.

The fire was quickly brought under control, said the statement.

The blaze at the Great Burgan Field in the southeastern desert of Kuwait, which produces some 1.6 million barrels of oil a day, did not impact production, the report said.

Burgan started production in 1948 and is still the second largest field in the world, second only to Saudi Arabia's Ghawar field which has a current production capacity of around 3.8 million b/d.

Kuwait' is expected to announce its June Official Selling Prices this week, but the blaze is unlikely to have any impact.

For May, Kuwait Export Crude (KEC) was set at DME Oman/Platts Dubai +$1.35/b for Asian customers, while its super light grade was also set at +$1.35/b.
