Easyjet to fly 15% of capacity in Q2, down from previous estimate
London (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) - Easyjet saw a surge of bookings from June after the UK government revealed its green list for international destinations, although it expects to fly just 15% of its pre-crisis capacity this quarter, down from its previous forecasts of 20%, it revealed in half year results ending March 31.
The no-frills airline reported seeing 105,000 bookings after the UK government opened up international travel to destinations that require testing without quarantine, such as Portugal, Singapore and the Falkland Islands.
Easyjet only flew 14% of its capacity over the six months to March 31 as it reported a pre-tax loss of £645 million ($913m), worse than the £353 million loss a year earlier.
"We have the ability to flex up quickly to operate 90% of our current fleet over the peak summer period to match demand," Johan Lundgren, easyJet Chief Executive said.
