Crude vessel still stuck at Norwegian Equinor terminal amid protests
Quantum Commodity Intelligence – The crude oil vessel Bergen TS continued to remain stuck at Equinor's Sture Export Terminal on the Norwegian west coast by 1600 BST Thursday after a day of protests by the Extinction Rebellion group, an Equinor spokesperson told Quantum.
Equinor halted the loading of the aframax vessel TS Bergen with crude oil earlier on Thursday morning after activists had blocked the road leading to the terminal and entered the terminal's safety zone with a boat.
Equinor had notified the police who were handling the situation which remained "unchanged" by 1600 BST, the spokesperson added.
During the day, Equinor was able to reach the vessel via ship and able to relieve the crew, while other operations at the terminal remained unaffected.
Bergen TS, sailing under a Maltese flag and with a dwt of 113,000, was set to leave for the terminal for the port of Rotterdam but remained moored at the Norwegian terminal, according to live shipping data.
Sture is a major export facility for crude and received oil and condensate through four pipelines from offshore fields.
Extinction Rebellion wants the Norwegian government to stop oil exploration and halt oil and gas production from 2025, it said on its Norwegian twitter account.
