CHINA DATA: Crude throughput rises almost 4% in June versus May
Quantum Commodity Intelligence – Chinese daily throughput of crude oil rose almost 4% in June compared to a month earlier, data published by the National Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday, as refineries restarted after a maintenance period.
The figure of 60.8 million mt is equivalent to 14.8 million bpd and is 5.1% up on the June 2020 figure of 14.1 million bpd.
Total crude throughput in the first half of the year totalled 353.25 million mt, according to the data, equivalent to 14.3 million bpd.
The figure comes as almost 40 million mt of capacity was expected to return online from May to June, according to market sources quoting S&P Global Platts data.
While throughput rose on the month, production fell to 16.67 million mt, equivalent to 4.06 million bpd. Production was up 2.4% on the year, however.
Total production so far this year in the world's second-biggest consumer of oil reached 198.5 million mt, equivalent to 4 million bpd.
