Australian LNG exports hit monthly record in March on China demand

London (Quantum Commodity Intelligence) - Australian shipments of LNG in March hit a monthly record of 7.2 million mt from 105 cargoes according to consultancy EnergyQuest, helped by an uptick in demand from Chinese buyers.
Just 6 million mt was exported in February, comprising 88 cargoes. The previous record was 7.1 million mt in December 2019.
More than one third of cargoes this March were sent to China with 37 shipments, up from 29 in February this year and compared with 29 in March last year.
The average price of Australian LNG exported to Korea in February was over A$14/GJ to the key price-setting market of Korea while February export prices were all higher than domestic prices, according to the consultancy.
